Imagineer Unlink Example

{ 6 months ago  →  1 comment }

Imagineer Systems recently published a really insightful tutorial on unlinked tracking techniques for Mocha. This approach is especially helpful with shots that have a significant amount of camera panning where offset tracking would typically be employed.

So, after watching the tutorial, I decided to see how far I could push the technique. And even though I tested it on some worst high8 footage I could find, (Yes, that’s me skiing on an old family vacation) I got a very acceptable result.

In certain applications, I think this technique could be an intelligent means of converting old analog footage to HD or pushing HD to 4K; especially if your source mainly pans and is higher quality than your family shooting handheld in full auto mode.

Far Away

It was my deep honor to shoot the new Lecrae video with the team from Desring God.

Please take the time to watch the video and let it move you. Then buy the video or track to make a contribution to Haitian disaster relief efforts. As the earthquake fades from the headlines it becomes increasingly important for the Church to step in and help rebuild.

All sales go directly toward relief in Haiti through churcheshelpingchurches.com

C4D MoDynamics Plinko

{ 6 months & 3 weeks ago  →  comment }

When I was a kid one of my favorite tv shows was The Price Is Right…and my favorite game on the show was Plinko. Probably because they didn’t play it that often and there was absolutely zero skill involved.

Anyway, I was working on a title sequence involving MoDynamics in C4D and ended up making this Plinko board as a short diversion when I was trying to get the dynamics to behave.

Click on the image above to see a preview of the final render.
Download the project file here. Requires C4D R11.5 and MoGraph Module

And if that’s not fun enough, you can watch some old-school Bob Barker Plinko action here.
